Kayaking Kenya & East Africa
Unmatched Kayaking grounds in Kenya
At Rapids Camp, we believe that you do not have to be an Eskimo to enjoy the pleasures of kayaking in Kenya!. Be introduced to the basics of kayaking on our flat calm waters at the Sagana River in Kenya, which is right next to our camp. Rapids camp is possibly the best location to learn about kayaking having in Kenya, being the host of the first-ever Africa Olympic Qualifier Kayaking Games in January 2008 with over 16 African countries participating in the grand event.
To begin with, our experienced instructors will introduce you to the equipment including what to wear and the boat that fits you best. You will also learn about the basic strokes, boat control, wet exits, and rescue techniques in moving on flat water as well as the Eskimo Roll, which is a vital movement in kayaking in Sagana Kenya. Once all this is in, we get on the water next to our camp.
The first class will give you a solid foundation that emphasizes proper technique, control and confidence while keeping safe and having fun on the River Sagana(Tana).
