Meet your driver and head north for 2.5-hours towards Malindi via the Mombasa-Malindi highway. Enjoy the beautiful scenery of plantations and different landscapes along the coastline on the way.
Once you arrive in Malindi town, visit the famous Vasco da Gama Pillar which is believed to be one the oldest European monuments in Africa having been built in 1498. Discover how Malindi is among the oldest towns in Kenya and was strategically placed as a sea route to traders to and from the East Coast of Africa. Learn about how Vasco da Gama arrived in Kenya in his endeavour to find a sea route to India; the cross on top of the pillar faces the ocean and was an emblem signifying the route to India.
After the short tour here, continue on to the quaint Portuguese chapel known as St Francis Xavier Chapel located on the seafront. Admire how clocking 517 years now, the walls have defied time and still stand strong. Hear the history of how the chapel was also built by Vasco Da Gama in 1498 while passing here on his way to India.
Next, head over to the Malindi National Museum to examine the display of excavated Chinese Ming porcelain, glass, and Persian earthenware. Here, learn about the whole history of Malindi and how the city was founded started. Take the option to visit the Malindi Factory and get close to the magnificent creatures at the private zoo. Marvel at the large collection of birds of prey and other animals.
For lunch, take a short drive for about 20 km to a magical beach known as Cheshale Golden Beach in Mambrui. Enjoy your food as you take in the views of 40km of pristine sand dunes, making this area the most unique landscape on the coastline.
