Itinerary:
Day 1: Samburu National Reserve
JAMBO – KARIBU KENYA!! Our Exploring Tourism representatives will warmly meet you at your city hotel and transfer you to Wilson Airport for your scheduled morning flight to Samburu National Reserve. Upon arrival, the lodge/camp driver-guide and vehicle will meet you at the local airstrip. You will then be transferred to your lodge/camp with short game viewing en route, followed by check-in and lunch.
In the afternoon, depart in the lodge/camp’s 4x4 customized safari vehicle with a driver-guide for game viewing to introduce you to the wildlife in the area. Return to your luxury camp/lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 2: Full Day in Samburu National Reserve
Enjoy scheduled morning and afternoon game drives within the reserve.
The greater Samburu region (Samburu, Buffalo Springs, and Shaba Game Reserves) is the best place to find several endemic northern species, including the gerenuk (Twiga gazelle) for its long neck, Beisa oryx, reticulated giraffe, Somali ostrich, and Grevy’s zebra. Leopards are often seen at dusk. Samburu is also an ornithological paradise, home to many birds, including local species such as the palm-nut vulture and vulturine dove.
The Samburu culture is fascinating, sharing strong ancestral and linguistic ties to the Maasai. The entire region offers breathtaking and magical beauty, where a deep red sunset silhouetting the doum palms along the river as a leopard emerges to hunt, creates the perfect end to a safari day.
Enjoy meals and an overnight at your luxury camp/lodge.
Day 3: Samburu National Reserve – Nairobi
This morning, enjoy breakfast and then check out. Unbelievable but true, your memorable bush moments have come to an end. Bid farewell to your wonderful camp manager and team, then transfer to the local airstrip for your scheduled flight back to Nairobi.
You will not leave empty-handed – photographs capturing the special moments of your safari will help immortalize the experience. Upon arrival at Wilson Airport, your tour guide-driver will meet you and transfer you to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport for your onward flight.
