Tour Overview:

This safari itinerary covers Ol Pejeta Sweetwaters Conservancy and Lake Nakuru National Park, which is renowned as the home of white and black rhinos as well as flamingos. It includes some of the most famous parks in Kenya, home to a diverse array of African wildlife. Experience the warm cultures of the Kenyan people (including the Maasai), scenic landscapes, the Great Rift Valley, the Equator, and Kenya’s tea and coffee plantations.

Itinerary:

Day 1: Nairobi – Sweetwaters Game Sanctuary

This morning, depart Nairobi and proceed north, driving through lush tea and coffee estates to Sweetwaters Conservancy. The Ol Pejeta Conservancy and its expansive ranch were once the private domain of the famed multi-millionaire Adnan Khashoggi.

Visit the Chimpanzee Sanctuary, a haven established by the Jane Goodall Institute to provide sanctuary to orphaned chimpanzees, and explore the specially protected and fenced refuge of black rhinos, home to forty specimens. Sweetwaters offers excellent game viewing, with the highest ratio of game to area of any park or reserve in Kenya. Several private waterholes and salt licks guarantee close wildlife encounters.

Activities include day or night game drives, camel trekking, lion tracking, al fresco dining, and relaxing by the pool.

Overnight at Sweetwaters Serena Camp.
Meal Plan: Lunch & Dinner

Day 2: Sweetwaters / Ol Pejeta Conservancy – Lake Nakuru National Park

After breakfast, depart Sweetwaters/Ol Pejeta for Lake Nakuru National Park, arriving at your lodge in time for lunch. In the afternoon, enjoy a ‘Spice’ game drive. Lake Nakuru is famous for flamingos, with approximately 400 other bird species present.

The park is also home to diverse wildlife, including Rothschild’s giraffe, black and white rhinos, waterbucks, reedbucks, lions, buffaloes, leopards, baboons, and numerous plains game species.

Overnight at Lake Nakuru Lodge or Flamingo Hill Tented Camp.
Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

Day 3: Lake Nakuru National Park – Masai Mara Game Reserve

After a leisurely breakfast at your lodge, depart overland to Masai Mara Game Reserve, the jewel of Kenya’s game parks. This vast reserve, part of the Serengeti plains, is famous for the spectacular wildebeest migration and is home to the Big Five: elephant, leopard, rhino, lion, and Cape buffalo.

After lunch, enjoy a late afternoon ‘Spice’ game drive.

Overnight at Mara Sopa Lodge or Sentrim Mara Camp.
Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

Day 4: Explore Masai Mara Game Reserve

Morning and afternoon ‘Spice’ game drives are planned in the Masai Mara, one of the greatest wilderness areas in the world. Large mammals are varied, abundant, and easily observed. Residents include Masai giraffes, buffaloes, impalas, zebras, topis, and both Thomson’s and Grant’s gazelles.

Optional hot air balloon rides are available at an additional cost. On this day, you also have the opportunity to visit an authentic Maasai village.
